“The CLASSICS” is an annual Wheelchair Basketball competition coordinated by Sporting Wheelies. This event plays an important role in the development wheelchair basketball players, coaches, referees, team managers, scorebench officials, volunteer drivers and event administrators in Queensland.
The CLASSICS welcome players from all over Queensland, throughout Australia, and overseas. Players from novice through to elite level can participate in the event.

Date: Saturday 22nd & Sunday 23rd November 2025.

Early Bird Special Price: $150 SAVE $20 (must register by 10th October). Registration after the 10th of October will be $170.
Competition Grades and Rules
Each team will play in a single or double round robin style of competition (pending the number of teams that register), plus Semi-Finals and Finals. Teams will be awarded 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, and 0 points for a loss/forfeit. At the conclusion of the competition the team with the highest number of points will play the team with the second highest number of points in a finals game to determine the Champion and Runner Up team for each competition grade.

Registrations
All Registrations to be completed online by Sunday 2nd November.
Registrations received by the 2nd of November will recevie a complementary competition shirt.

(Registrations on the day of the event will not be accepted).
Refunds
Competitors wishing to withdraw will, at the discretion of the Sporting Wheelies, receive a refund, minus an administration fee of $30.00. No refunds will be provided after 10th November 2025 without a medical certificate.
Presentation Ceremony
The event will conclude with a presentation ceremony at approximately 3pm on Sunday.
Awards being presented include: Champion team and Runners-Up, All Star 5 and Most Valuable Player (MVP) for each grade.
Most Valuable Player (MVP)
The MVP is awarded to the overall best performer of the competition for both A Grade and Social Grade. Selection is based not only on sporting performance but also on sportsmanship, fair play, teamwork and attitude.
- Voting will be conducted by the opposing team and referees after each game.
- The player with the highest overall votes at the end of the competition will be recognised as the MVP.
- Award: Trophy and $100 cash prize.
All Star 5
The All-Star Five recognises the top five players of the competition for both A Grade and Social Grade. These players are chosen for their skill, consistency, teamwork, and impact throughout the season.
- Voting will be conducted by the opposing team after each game.
- The player with the highest overall points at the end of the competition will be recognised as one of the All Star 5.
- Award: Trophy and $50 cash prize.
Volunteers and Officials
Volunteers and officials are needed to fill various positions for the event.

Meals and Entertainment
The venue canteen is available for the duration of the event for both days of the competition (gluten free and vegetarian options available).
Car Parking, Wheelchair Storage and Accessible Toilets
Players can store their wheelchairs overnight at Gold Coast Recreation Precinct (Saturday 22nd November) in the area designated by venue staff. Please ensure wheelchairs are placed neatly in the area (large wheels to the wall). Sporting Wheelies takes no responsibility for damaged, lost or stolen equipment (please remove all valuables) as they will not be supervised.
First Aid
Designated First Aid Officers will be provided both days at this event.
Conditions of Entry
All athletes agree to the terms and conditions as outlined on the registration form. Athletes must have no outstanding debts to Sporting Wheelies.
Spectators
Spectators are welcome to attend the CLASSICS to support their friends, family, or to watch some of the best wheelchair basketballers in the country. There is no entry fee.
Spectators are asked to respect all athletes, volunteers, officials and event staff, failure to do so will result in the offending person/s to being asked to leave the facility.
