We're Launching The Sporting Wheelies Cairns Hub | Coming Soon!

Five adaptive sports. Two locations. Starting October 2026.
Cairns is already home to a growing disability sports community, and now there’s something new to get excited about.
This October, we’re launching the Sporting Wheelies Cairns Hub, bringing a fresh and exciting range of five adaptive sports to Cairns across two venues.
Whether you’ve played sport your whole life or you’ve never set foot on a court or in a gym, there’s a spot for you.
Here’s the part worth knowing up front: $80 covers the term for four sports. Not $80 each. One payment
*Sporting Wheelies annual membership of $55 applies
Get more sport into your week for one affordable fee.
Your $80 term fee gives you access to four social sport programs from 12 October to 11 December:
- Para Powerlifting
- Wheelchair Fundamentals
- Table Tennis
- Boccia
You don’t have to choose just one. Come along to multiple sessions each week, try different sports, or stick with the ones you enjoy most. Your term fee covers it all, so you can build your skills, try something new and find the sports that are right for you — without paying extra.
Note: Adaptive Aquatics is the only program with a separate fee, at $160 for the term. This program runs in the hydrotherapy pool with one-on-one sessions.

More session times for Para Powerlifting, Wheelchair Fundamentals and Adaptive Aquatics coming soon.
Para Powerlifting
Cairns already has a strong lifting community, and now adaptive athletes have a dedicated space to get involved, with a purpose-built bench and coaching from people who understand the sport. Whether you’re lifting for fun, fitness or competition, it’s up to you how far you take it.
Where: Spinal Life Healthy Living Centre, Cairns North Cost: $80 for the term
Adaptive Aquatics
Warm water, accessible entry, and room to move without negotiating a busy public pool. Runs in the hydrotherapy pool, which makes a real difference if you’re managing pain or working through an injury. Sessions are one-on-one tailored sessions focussing on the individuals goals, whether that is water safety, stroke control, fitness or hydro-therapy
Where: Spinal Life Healthy Living Centre, Cairns North Cost: $160 for the term.
Wheelchair Fundamentals
Chair skills first, sport second. Pushing, turning, stopping, positioning. This is where you start if you’re new to a chair or new to adaptive sport, and it feeds into everything else. Sport chairs available if you don’t have one.
Where: PCYC Cairns, Manunda Cost: $80 for the term Time: 5:00pm – 7:00pm | Mondays: 12 Oct, 19 Oct, 26 Oct, 2 Nov, 9 Nov, 16 Nov, 23 Nov, 30 Nov

Table Tennis
Fast, social, and you’ll be playing within ten minutes of walking in. Played standing or seated. Probably the easiest way to have a go if you’re not sure about any of this yet.
Where: Spinal Life Healthy Living Centre, Cairns North Cost: $80 for the term Time: 4.30pm – 6.30pm | Fridays: 16 Oct, 23 Oct, 30 Oct, 6 Nov, 13 Nov, 20 Nov, 27 Nov, 4 Dec
Boccia
Precision, tactics, and a bit of friendly trash talk. Played seated, with ramps and assistive equipment available. Suits a wide range of support needs, and there’s a competitive pathway if you want one.
Where: PCYC Cairns, Manunda Cost: $80 for the term Time: 5:00pm – 7:00pm | Mondays: 12 Oct, 19 Oct, 26 Oct, 2 Nov, 9 Nov, 16 Nov, 23 Nov, 30 Nov
