Event Coordinator Robyn Stephensen said the championships were the perfect time to debut Queensland’s first mixed junior team.

“The juniors are excited about this opportunity to represent their state in the game they love,” said Stephensen.

“The nationals will also be great preparation for Meica and Raissa who will be playing for Australia in the IBSA Goalball Asia/Pacific Championships in China in November. These championships are the final qualifying tournament for the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio.”

Queensland teams will be aiming to reclaim national champion status after the men’s and youth teams finished second and the women’s team finished third in 2014.
