High Performance Program

High Performance Program

Sporting Wheelies and Disabled Association has a proud tradition of supporting elite Queensland athletes with a disability to achieve their personal best at the highest levels of competition.

In 2014, a High Performance Program was established with the support of the Queensland Academy of Sport and Basketball Queensland. The program is managed and delivered by the Association for wheelchair basketball, wheelchair rugby, goalball and powerlifting.

Our High Performance Program Coordinator works with key stakeholders across these sports to develop programs that can be delivered either through the QAS, within existing sporting programs, or set up to service specific needs for athletes. This enables a more efficient use of resources and has allowed greater provision of tailored support services such as strength and conditioning, physiotherapy, massage, sport psychology, nutrition, coaching support and sport science advice.

Elite Queensland athletes with a disability competing in other sports have the opportunity to receive QAS support through their relevant state sporting body.

For more information, contact the High Performance Program Coordinator at the Brisbane office or via email.
