Sporting Wheelies and Disabled Association
Sporting Wheelies and Disabled Association is a not-for-profit organisation and registered as a charity (Charity #781). We been helping Queenslanders with a disability lead active, healthy lives and achieve their sporting dreams since 1977.
Our programs and services not only benefit people who use wheelchairs for mobility – we support people with other physical disabilities such as amputations, acquired brain injury, dwarfism, neuromuscular conditions, and partial or total vision loss.
We are Queensland’s peak body for sport, recreation and fitness for people with a physical disability or vision impairment. Our mission is to enhance the lives of people with a disability through community engagement and education, sport and healthy activity.
Some of the ways we support our members with a disability are by:
providing sport and recreation, fitness and rehabilitation programs and services delivered by our staff and experienced volunteers; and linking members with other sport and healthy activity providers who are committed to including people with a disability in their programs and services.
We also play a vital role in the community, educating people about sport and healthy activity for people with a disability, and encouraging people with a disability to get active.
Sporting Wheelies and Disabled Association is a not-for-profit organisation and raise the majority of our own funding through non-government sources including donations, our Gold Choice Lottery, and corporate support.
All donations over AUD$2 are tax deductible according to Australian tax law and are in support of: The Sporting Wheelies and Disabled Sport and Recreation Association of Queensland Inc.
