Meet Helena Kidd from Rockhampton. Helena is one of many Queenslanders with a disability leading active, healthy lives and achieving their sporting dreams.
What’s your involvement in sport and healthy activity meant to you?
I was fit and healthy and made many friends which I still keep in contact with today.
Who were your role models that you admire, and that you’ve learnt from?
Dr. Sean Tweedy and Joan Stevens. They taught me how to believe in myself.
If you could know you’ve made a difference, what would that be?
When I went to Sydney for the Nationals for Boccia, I made some friends and I hope they learnt from me.
What does an inclusive community looks like?
When I go out in the community and no one stares because I am in a wheelchair. I’m just like everybody else.
