Queensland’s Aussie Storm and Aussie Belles representatives will be back in the maroon 4-7 October 2017, when they take to the courts in Melbourne for the 2017 Australian Goalball Championships (AGC).
Sport Development Coordinator and women’s team coach Robyn Stephensen is confident leading into the event. “We are sending three very strong teams to the nationals and hope to return home successful. We have also added two South Australian players to our men’s team this year, as they were not able to field a team locally.”
“Whilst we are unable to field a Youth team this year, Queensland Youth player, Joe Hogg has been given the opportunity to compete as a member of the South Australian Youth team.”
Queensland Men’s coach Greg Scott is excited about the teams’ prospects. “Queensland are always strong across the board. Despite some injuries and retirements, this year will be no different. There are some pretty intense interstate rivalries, so there should be some really entertaining goalball played.”
The Queensland teams competing at the 2017 AGC are:
* on debut
Team Manager: Trevor Harrison (Cairns)
Queensland will also have five referees officiating at the championships: Warrick Jackes, Darren Kendrick, Michelle Baird, Gale Hopper and John McCormick.
If you are in Melbourne, matches will be played at Collingwood College (Cromwell St & McCutcheon Way, Abbotsford VIC) – we’d love your support.
