Meet The Gym staff – Sarah Corley

Image of Sarah CorleyI decided to become an exercise physiologist because

When I started at university I didn’t know exactly what I wanted to do. I knew that I wouldn’t be able to sit at a desk all day. I enjoyed coaching and teaching so the option to apply for a degree titled ‘Human Movement Studies’ sounded like a good fit. Part way through my degree, the course changed to Clinical Exercise Physiology and it was the practicum at Sporting Wheelies and Disabled Association that really reinforced that this was a field I would enjoy.

The best part of my job at The Gym is

I love to see clients progressing and surprising themselves with what they can achieve. To be able to facilitate that and to make someone and their families happy and healthy is a great reward.

The highlight of my time with the Association so far has been…

This is not a highlight per say but I love the atmosphere in The Gym when clients, staff and students are all having a good time throwing banter and chatting during sessions. It makes for such a friendly and welcoming environment and our sessions are finished before we know it.

My favourite way to keep fit is…

I am currently training for triathlons so lots of cardio for me.

My guilty pleasure is…peanut butter…on almost anything!

The quality I most admire is…loyalty and commitment. This can be your dedication and focus towards physical activity or how you approach life and relationships in general.

My dream holiday would be…

My holiday wish list is endless so I guess a one way ticket around the world would cover it.
