Finalists announced for state para-sport awards

The finalists for Queensland’s major para-sport awards have been announced by Sporting Wheelies and Disabled Association ahead of the annual presentation dinner in Brisbane on Friday 23 February 2018.

Image of trophyThe annual awards honour Queensland-based athletes with a disability as well as coaches, officials, volunteers and inclusion partners.

Jon Horsburgh (goalball), Kobie Donovan (athletics), Scott Wintle (water skiing) and Tom O’Neill-Thorne (wheelchair basketball) will be vying for the prestigious Sporting Wheelie of the Year award, which recognises excellence on and off the sporting field. Scott and Tom are also finalists in the Senior Male Athlete of the Year category.

The awards mark the 37th year that the Association has hosted the state’s longest-running awards program for athletes with a physical disability or vision impairment, and will recognise achievements and contributions during 2017.

The awards dinner will be held at the Kedron-Wavell Services Club on Brisbane’s northside.
